Melaka Kites Museum

Located on the fourth floor of the building housing the People Museum and Enduring Beauty Museum, Melaka Kites Museum (Muzium Layang-layang) is part of the People Museum Complex and was officiated by the Chief Minister of Melaka on September 1995 in conjunction with the ‘Regional Malay Customs’ seminar.

Melaka Kites Museum showcases the history of kites as long distance communication tools, a weapon of war and particularly as sports and leisure instruments. Melaka Kites Museum exhibits the tradition of kites making,

The different materials they are made of, the games and the function of various kites available around the world. This museum boasts a large collection of traditional and modern kites in various shapes, sizes, forms and styles, depending on their origin. One of the prized exhibits in Melaka Kites Museum is the Nusantara Wau.
